Horwath HTL's directors have undertaken a variety of work in relation to arts and culture facilities in New Zealand over the last 15 years.
Our service lines include:
-
Venue needs analysis
We have experience in undertaking performing arts venue needs analysis for local government. These strategic studies take into account existing venue provision and the local sector's aspirations for the performing arts. The strategies focus on identifying the best way of addressing key aspirations by filling existing "venue gaps" through a prioritised programme of future venue provision. These studies need to consider the affordability and fundability of facilities as well as they way in which a network of facilities can stimulate a vibrant arts and culture environment for the benefit of the wider community. These higher level venue needs analyses identify a range of facilities that can then be subject to individual business case analysis.
-
Business case analysis
We have undertaken business case studies for numerous venues ranging from 100 seat black box venues up to 2,300 seat theatres including both professional and community facilities. We have undertaken business case studies in relation to refurbishment, expansion and new-build projects. Our studies utilise industry consultation, benchmark analysis, and our industry knowledge resulting in robust reports that identify potential activity levels, revenues, operating costs, economic impact analysis (if appropriate), and extensive consideration of critical success factors that need to be met if stakeholder objectives are to be achieved.
-
Economic impact analysis
We have undertaken various economic impact analyses for venue owners and theatre proponents including as part of comprehensive business case analyses or as part of resource consent hearings. These analyses typically estimate the future economic impact that will arise in the local economy as a result of future events that are projected to be staged at the theatre.
